BIO

▶️ TAMSAIANKA is a sound fabric between Colombian indigenous music, Asian sounds, improvisation, and contemporary music. This intercultural encounter creates an experience that invites the audience to journey through emotional, festive, contemplative, and introspective states. 

▶️ Within Colombian territory, the Muisca indigenous people of the Cundiboyacense highlands call the offering Tamsa; The Wiwa indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta call the music Maianka. Taking the advice of these two peoples who nourish life, this group calls their offering composed of Ancestral and Contemporary Sounds,Tamsaianka.

▶️ Its members:: Carlos Gómez Montoya plays Latin American indigenous flutes, Asian flutes, the classical European transverse flute, and the saxophone. Jenny León Ochoa plays the piano and incorporates dance elements. Gustavo Pérez Jiménez plays Latin American and Asian percussion instruments. Some of their concerts feature video projections created and mixed live by Nayra Alejandra Villota Ramírez.

▶️ Since its formation in 2016, the group has performed on stages across Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Panama, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Spain, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Denmark, and Greece. The ensemble has released five albums: Reflexiones de una selva frente al mar (2017), La pirámide de la laguna (2019), Danzando en la eternidad (2022), Corazón de tierra (2024), and Canto de Origen (2026).
